This image means something to me. I'm not sure I really understand the gravity of it, as naive as I am, but despite the colors and the cute style. There's so much... distance and a tremendously melancholy feeling to it.

Just to clarify, I know what it is and what it represents. But it still strikes me on a deeper level. Maybe I've been reading too much fanfiction.

Why would they make Twilight a princess? That is the most terrible thing to ever happen. I mean living forever, and then watching all your best friends die before you. TT^TT

Her friends would have died regardless of whether she became immortal or not. This doesn't change that. She would even have seen them all die if she just happened to be the last one to go. It's no more horrible than when somebody is the sole survivor of a plane crash. Which is to say, still really horrible, but horrible because of the people that died, NOT because of the one who survived, and certainly not improved by killing them off, as well.
